The Story of Kapila

Kardama Muni, a great sage, and Devahuti, the daughter of Swayambhuva Manu, lived a life of deep penance and devotion. To them, Lord Vishnu was born as their son, Kapila, an incarnation of divine knowledge. When Kardama Muni retired to the forest to seek the absolute truth, Devahuti turned to her son for spiritual guidance. Kapila, seeing his mother's sincere desire for liberation, began to impart the profound wisdom of Sankhya philosophy. He explained that the mind is the root cause of both bondage and freedom. He taught that by detaching from material desires and focusing the mind with pure devotion on the Supreme, one could transcend the cycles of birth and death. Kapila described the components of the universe, the nature of the soul, and the path of Bhakti-yoga. Through his teachings, Devahuti attained the highest state of enlightenment, and Kapila remains revered as the founder of one of India’s most influential philosophical systems.

The moral
True freedom is achieved by disciplining the mind and directing one's devotion toward the eternal truth rather than material attachments.
