The Chimera

In the ancient kingdom of Lycia, a terrifying beast known as the Chimera laid waste to the countryside, scorching the earth with its breath. This monstrous creature possessed the head of a lion, a goat’s head protruding from its back, and a venomous serpent for a tail. King Iobates, hoping to eliminate the hero Bellerophon, tasked the young man with the impossible feat of slaying the beast. Knowing he could not face such a monster on foot, Bellerophon sought the counsel of a seer and eventually tamed the winged horse Pegasus using a golden bridle gifted by the goddess Athena. From the safety of the sky, Bellerophon rained arrows upon the monster, but its fiery breath kept him from dealing a killing blow. Thinking quickly, he attached a block of lead to his spear and thrust it into the Chimera's gaping, flaming maw. The beast's own heat melted the lead, which flowed down its throat and solidified in its vitals, finally ending its reign of terror.

The moral
Victory is achieved not through raw strength alone, but through the combination of divine help, courage, and creative problem-solving.
