The turtle spoke, explaining that the Dragon King had lent the sword to defeat the enemy, but now that peace had returned, it must be restored to the depths. Lê Lợi unsheathed the blade and tossed it toward the turtle, who caught it in its mouth and vanished. To honor this event, the King renamed the waters Hoàn Kiếm Lake, the Lake of the Restored Sword.
