Pupils retell a short story in order and say what lesson it teaches. Fables suit this perfectly: the story is short enough to retell, and the lesson sits close to the surface.
A simple sequence
- Retell
Partners retell the story using first, then, last. - Find the lesson
Hide the moral, and ask the class what the story teaches. - Check
Reveal the moral and compare it with their ideas.
