The Eight Immortals and the Sea Dragon

After a grand banquet on Penglai Island, the Eight Immortals decided to cross the vast East Sea to admire its beauty. Lu Dongbin proposed a challenge: instead of riding clouds, each must use their own magical talisman to traverse the waters. Li Tieguai floated on his iron crutch, Han Xiangzi sailed on his jade flute, and He Xiangu glided atop a lotus flower. Their divine presence and the resonance of their powers stirred the depths, disturbing the underwater palace of the East Sea Dragon King. Believing the Immortals were mounting an attack, the Dragon King’s son rose to the surface and stole Lan Caihe’s musical jade board. A fierce battle ensued between the celestial beings and the dragon’s marine army, causing the very seas to boil. Only when the Dragon King realized the true identity of his visitors did he return the stolen treasure and sue for peace. The Immortals accepted his apology, and together they transformed the conflict into a celebration of mutual respect.
