During the great war known as the Titanomachy, Zeus realized that the Olympians needed a decisive advantage to overthrow Cronus and the Titans. Descending into the dark pits of Tartarus, Zeus liberated the elder Cyclopes—Brontes, Steropes, and Arges—who had been imprisoned by their father Uranus. In profound gratitude for their freedom, the three master smiths used their divine craftsmanship to forge weapons of incredible power. At a massive anvil amidst volcanic fires, they hammered out a bolt of pure, jagged energy. They presented Zeus with the thunderbolt, a weapon that could shatter mountains and command the heavens. With this newfound lightning, Zeus struck down his enemies from the heights of Olympus, securing his place as the King of the Gods and ending the era of the Titans.
True power is often found by liberating those who have been forgotten, and gratitude can forge the strongest alliances.
