The Humpbacked Horse

In a Russian village, a simple youth named Ivan guarded his father’s fields from a mysterious thief. He caught a magical white mare who, in exchange for her freedom, gave him two beautiful black horses and a tiny, long-eared humpbacked horse. While his brothers sold the fine steeds to the Tsar, Ivan kept the humble humpbacked horse as his companion. The Tsar, impressed by the horses but envious of Ivan, demanded impossible feats: capturing the glowing Firebird, rescuing the beautiful Tsar-Maid, and retrieving a ring from the bottom of the ocean. With the magical guidance of his loyal humpbacked horse, Ivan succeeded every time. Finally, the Tsar ordered Ivan to jump into three cauldrons of boiling milk, water, and ice-water to become young again. The humpbacked horse cast a spell, and Ivan emerged handsome and transformed. When the greedy Tsar jumped in himself, he perished instantly. Ivan was proclaimed the new ruler and married the Tsar-Maid, proving that a pure heart is the greatest magic of all.

The moral
Loyalty, humility, and a pure heart will always triumph over greed and the arrogance of power.
