Shiva and the River Ganga

King Bhagiratha sought to liberate the souls of his ancestors by bringing the celestial River Ganga down to Earth. However, the river’s descent from the heavens was so powerful that her weight threatened to shatter the world. Recognizing the impending catastrophe, Bhagiratha prayed to Lord Shiva for help. When Ganga descended with immense pride, intending to sweep away even the Great God, Shiva calmly stood beneath the falling torrent. He caught the massive, roaring river in his thick, matted locks, trapping her energy within his hair. Humiliated and her pride broken, Ganga wandered through the labyrinth of his locks until she became calm. Shiva then released her in seven gentle streams, allowing her to flow across the land to purify the earth and the spirits of the ancestors. Thus, Ganga became a symbol of life and purification, forever anchored to the grace of Shiva.

The moral
True power must be tempered with discipline and humility, and even the most chaotic forces can be channeled for good through divine grace.
