Nezha was born as a miraculous ball of flesh to General Li Jing. When the ball was split open, a boy emerged already gifted with the Universe Ring and the Red Armillary Sash. One scorching day, Nezha went to the East Sea to cool off. As he washed his magic sash, its power caused violent tremors that shook the underwater Crystal Palace of the Dragon King, Ao Guang. The Dragon King sent his son, Ao Bing, to arrest the boy, but in the fierce battle that followed, Nezha’s divine strength proved too great, and he accidentally killed the dragon prince. Enraged by the death of his son, Ao Guang threatened to flood Chentang Pass and destroy Nezha’s entire family. To take full responsibility and spare his parents from the dragon's wrath, Nezha performed a harrowing act of sacrifice, returning his flesh to his mother and his bones to his father. His spirit was later brought to his mentor, Taiyi Zhenren, who used lotus blossoms and roots to construct a new, immortal body for the young hero, allowing him to rise again as a powerful deity.
True courage is found in taking responsibility for one's mistakes and the willingness to sacrifice oneself for the safety of others.
